Radio over IP 101

WP108 Tuesday, 02/26/2008 8:00AM -12:00PM

With the increasing acceptance of digital two-way radio technology and a growing desire on the part of land mobile radio users to enjoy the interoperability benefits and cost savings associated with IP, public agencies and private network operators are investing time and money to understand how to incorporate these new technologies into their infrastructure. However, moving from analog to digital in one leap can introduce unacceptably high financial costs and operational risks. This workshop examines all aspects of radio over IP, from understanding how IP works, to moving from an analog to digital system to creating an interoperable environment.

Moderator: Jack Powers,
Panelists: Bob Brown, Marty Christensen, Randy Richmond

Dealer Workshop:
New Technologies for Dealers

Wednesday, 02/27/2008 1:30PM - 3:30PM

In this special workshop specifically for dealers, learn about the new technologies that will affect your business. From cellular networks replacing traditional LMRs to IP enhancing even the most ancient of legacy systems, the radio revolution is upon us. As more IT personnel are given responsibility for radios, dealers must learn to speak a new language on the computer side of wireless. They must act almost as consultants, learning about the new technologies and advising on which may be the best for their clients, as they work together to integrate with their existing systems. Examine not only new IP technology’s affect on radio, but also how to communicate with an IT staff that knows little about RF. Gain the knowledge that’s a must for today’s dealer, as you discover how to anticipate what your clients – and the market – need.

Panelists: Jack Powers, Stu Overby and Alan Tilles
